About this tool
Set a width, a height or a percentage and get the image back at that size. The aspect ratio is kept unless you turn it off, and there are presets for the sizes people usually need — favicons, app icons, profile pictures and social previews. The resizing is done by your browser, so even a 25 MB photograph never leaves your device.

Questions
Will enlarging an image make it sharper?
No. Enlarging makes the existing pixels bigger; it cannot add detail that was never captured. Scaling down discards information cleanly, which is why it looks fine — scaling up is always a compromise, whatever tool you use.
Why does the height change when I type a width?
Because the aspect ratio is locked by default, so the image is not stretched. Untick “Keep the aspect ratio” if you genuinely want to distort it, or use a preset that names both dimensions.
Which preset should I use for a favicon?
The 32×32 one covers the browser tab. If you also want an icon for a phone home screen or a PWA, use 512×512 as well — a single large square scales down better than a small one scales up.
Is the file uploaded to be resized?
No. Your browser decodes the image, redraws it at the new size on a canvas and re-encodes it, all on this page. Disconnect from the network after the page loads and everything still works.
The file got bigger after resizing. Why?
Usually because the format changed — a photograph saved as PNG is much larger than the same photograph as JPEG or WebP. Keep the original format, or pick WebP, and check the size shown under the preview.
